Nasarawa attracts new lithium investors as Benue confirms major gold and aluminium deposits, signaling growth in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

Foreign Investors Set Sights on Nasarawa Lithium as Benue Confirms Major Gold and Aluminium Deposits

Nasarawa State is set for another major industrial boost as Governor Abdullahi Sule has confirmed the arrival of two additional foreign investors interested in developing lithium mining and processing facilities in Kokona Local Government Area. The new investment drive aligns with the governor’s ongoing industrialization agenda, positioning the state as a growing hub for mineral exploration and value-added processing in Nigeria.

Governor Sule noted that the establishment of the lithium plants will not only increase revenue generation but also create job opportunities for residents, boost local business activity, and promote technological transfer. He emphasized that Nasarawa is committed to developing a structured mining sector that benefits the state and ensures local participation.

The governor’s announcement reinforces Nasarawa’s reputation as one of the fastest-growing mineral investment destinations in West Africa, especially as the global market demand for lithium an essential component in electric vehicle batteries and renewable-energy storage systems continues to surge.

Benue Confirms Presence of Gold and Aluminium Deposits

Meanwhile, in neighboring Benue State, government authorities have officially confirmed the discovery of economically viable gold and aluminium deposits in Kwande Local Government Area and surrounding riverine communities.

The confirmation followed geological surveys and technical assessments conducted in collaboration with relevant mineral exploration experts. Officials say the discovery opens new opportunities for economic diversification, job creation, and industrial development within the state.

Benue State stakeholders and community leaders have urged the government to ensure responsible exploration practices that safeguard the environment and guarantee fair benefits for local residents.

Growing Mining Interest Across Nigeria

These developments in Nasarawa and Benue highlight the increasing global interest in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector. With improved regulation, transparent partnerships, and sustainable mining policies, experts believe the country could become a major supplier of critical minerals needed for future energy and manufacturing technologies.
