Obi Aguocha has successfully scaled the screening process conducted by the Labour Party ahead of the party’s primary elections for the 2027 general elections.
The lawmaker, who currently represents Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, appeared before the party’s National Screening Committee for evaluation, verification of credentials, and authentication of documents required for his second-term ambition.
Following the exercise, Aguocha was officially cleared alongside several other serving lawmakers seeking to contest under the platform of the Labour Party.
Speaking after the screening, the federal lawmaker expressed gratitude and optimism over the successful outcome of the process, describing it as a positive step toward continuing his legislative service to the people of his constituency.
The screening exercise forms part of the Labour Party’s preparations for its forthcoming primary elections, where candidates will emerge to represent the party in the 2027 general elections.
Political observers believe Aguocha’s clearance may further strengthen his re-election campaign as supporters and stakeholders within the constituency continue to monitor developments ahead of the primaries.
