Police arrest two suspected thieves in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects for criminal conspiracy house breaking and theft.

The suspects, Ibrahim Umar, 22, of Herwa Gana Quarter Gombe LGA and Usman Abdullahi, 27, of Kumbiya Kumbiya Quarters, Gombe LGA, broke into the house of one Abdulbasid Haruna on February 3, 2025, at around 1:00 am and stole several items, including laptops, mobile phones, other valuables, totalling N3,200,570.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, February 11, said efforts are ongoing to arrest the receiver of the stolen items, Ibrahim Danmariya.

“On the 04/02/2025 at about 1600hrs a formal complaint was received through one Abdulbasid Haruna “M” Maitama, Quarters Bye-pass that on the 03/02/2025 at about 0100hrs unknown persons broke and enter in to his house and carter away with the following items:-(1) Apple laptop mac book valued N2,100,000 (ii) Dell laptop valued N250,000 (3) Mobile phone vivo v40 valued N740,000 (4) Oramo smartwatch valued N48,000 (5) Oramo air pod valued N48,000 (6) SSD External device 500GB valued N60,000 and Airtime valued N4,570. The Grand Total value of items Stolen Three Million Two Hundred Thousand and Five Seventy Naira N3,200,570,” the statement read.

“However, on receipt of the complaint Police detectives from CP’s Monitoring Unit lunched an investigation and employed the use of technological know how and tracked down some of the stolen device which led to the arrest of the above mentioned suspects on 07/02/2025.

“Subsequently, During the course of investigation, all of the above mentioned exhibit has been recovered after been sold at the rate of Eighty Thousand Naira only (N80,000) and the suspects confessed to have committed the crime and efforts on the way to get the Receiver arrested.

“The Command urged the residents to be vigilant and reports any suspicious activity promptly to the nearest Police Station/formation in time.”
