FCT Police Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Pregnant Woman Linked to Gang Operations

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested five suspected members of a notorious kidnapping and banditry network operating around the outskirts of Abuja, including a heavily pregnant woman accused of providing logistical support to the criminal group.

According to police authorities, the suspects were apprehended during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out in identified criminal hideouts across parts of the FCT and neighboring communities.

Investigations revealed that the pregnant woman allegedly played a crucial role within the syndicate by preparing meals for gang members and supplying food and other essential items to kidnapped victims held in captivity.

The police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping and banditry networks responsible for several attacks and abductions around Abuja and its surrounding areas.

Security operatives recovered several items believed to have been used by the suspects during their criminal activities, while efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.

Authorities disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.

The FCT Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to strengthening security across the nation’s capital and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency.

The command further emphasized the importance of community collaboration in combating kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of violent crimes threatening public safety.

Security experts have repeatedly warned that criminal groups often rely on extensive support networks, including logistics providers and informants, to sustain their operations. The latest arrests highlight the evolving tactics used by these syndicates and the need for sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated law enforcement efforts.
