FAAC Distributes ₦2.30 Trillion to Federal, State, and Local Governments from May 2026 Revenue
The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a total of ₦2.30 trillion among the Federal Government, the 36 state governments, and the 774 local government councils as revenue generated in May 2026.
The latest allocation represents an increase of ₦43 billion compared to the ₦2.26 trillion distributed in April 2026, reflecting a 1.9 percent month-on-month growth and sustaining the upward trend in federation revenue earnings.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation following FAAC’s monthly meeting held in Abuja. The information was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa.
According to the statement, the total gross revenue available for May 2026 stood at ₦3.395 trillion. However, before distribution, deductions amounting to ₦123.546 billion were made to cover the cost of revenue collection, while ₦971.610 billion was allocated for transfers, interventions, and refunds.
After these deductions, the remaining ₦2.30 trillion was shared among the three tiers of government in line with the constitutional revenue-sharing formula.
The increase in May’s allocation continues a steady rise in revenue generation over recent months. In April, FAAC distributed ₦2.26 trillion, which was ₦217 billion higher than the ₦2.04 trillion shared in March. Likewise, March’s allocation exceeded February’s ₦1.89 trillion by ₦150 billion.
The consistent rise in monthly allocations is expected to provide additional financial support to governments at all levels, enabling them to strengthen infrastructure projects, improve public services, and meet critical development obligations.
Economic analysts say the sustained growth in federation revenues could improve fiscal stability if the funds are efficiently managed and directed toward impactful projects that benefit citizens across the country.

The monthly FAAC distribution remains a vital source of funding for Nigeria’s federal, state, and local governments, particularly for states that heavily depend on allocations from the federation account to finance their budgets and ongoing development programmes.
