Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Migrates Portal to Reflect New Institutional Identity, Strengthens Digital Services
Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, has officially migrated its digital portal from the former Abia State Polytechnic domain to a new platform, marking another significant milestone in its ongoing transformation following the institution’s renaming.
The portal migration is part of a broader modernization agenda aimed at aligning the institution’s digital infrastructure with its new identity and enhancing service delivery for students, staff, and prospective applicants.
The institution was renamed Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic on November 7, 2024, following an announcement by Abia State Governor Alex Otti during the funeral rites of the late statesman and former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
During the institution’s 22nd Convocation Ceremony held in December, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu, highlighted the progress recorded since the name change, describing the period as one characterized by steady growth and institutional advancement.
According to the Rector, the polytechnic has experienced significant improvements across various sectors, positioning itself for greater academic excellence and administrative efficiency.
As part of efforts to consolidate these gains, the institution has now transitioned from the former Abia State Polytechnic online portal to a dedicated digital platform operating under its new name.
Speaking on the development, the Officer in Charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Nnaemeka Okoro, said the upgraded portal was specifically designed to improve accessibility, transparency, and operational efficiency.
He explained that the new platform offers a more user-friendly interface alongside additional features intended to simplify both academic and administrative processes.
According to him, the portal will serve as the institution’s central hub for essential activities, including admission processing, school fee payments, course registration, student records management, and other academic-related services.
He further disclosed that a dedicated e-learning and Computer-Based Testing (CBT) system remains integrated into the platform to support digital learning and facilitate online assessments.
Prospective students seeking admission, purchasing application forms, or making related payments have been advised to utilize the designated application portal. Likewise, returning and enrolled students can access their academic records, examination results, and e-learning resources through the student management platform.
The portal migration represents the latest in a series of reforms being implemented by the institution as it continues to modernize its operations and strengthen its digital ecosystem following its transition to Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic.
