VIDEO: Akpabio Accuses Arise News of Misquoting Him, Explains Why He Left PDP for APC

President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has accused Arise News of repeatedly misrepresenting his public comments, saying he no longer watches television because many reports attributed to him do not accurately reflect his statements.

Speaking on the issue, Akpabio expressed frustration over what he described as persistent misquotation by television broadcasters, particularly Arise News. According to him, inaccurate reporting has influenced his decision to stop following television broadcasts.

“Let the people on Arise News stop misquoting me. I have stopped watching television because most of the things they say are not what I said,” the Senate President stated.

Akpabio also used the opportunity to explain the reasons behind his decision to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), maintaining that his political ideology aligns more closely with the ruling party.

According to him, he considers himself a progressive-minded politician and believes his values are better represented within the APC. He said that after assessing the political landscape, he realized he had been in the wrong political platform and decided to make an early exit from the PDP.

“A progressive-minded person like me should belong to a progressive family. Therefore, when APC came to me, I discovered that was my group and that I was in the wrong party, called PDP. So, I took my exit early and joined the progressives,” Akpabio said.
