NDC Demands Immediate Sack of Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila, Over Alleged Fake Agency Scandal
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to an alleged corruption scandal involving a purported non-existent government agency and the alleged sale of public appointments.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the opposition party urged President Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila to pave the way for what it described as a full, independent, and transparent investigation into the allegations.
The NDC’s demand follows claims made by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identifies himself as the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency the Presidency has reportedly denied exists.
According to the party, the allegations raise serious questions about transparency and accountability within the Tinubu administration. It claimed that despite the Presidency’s position that the PFIPC does not exist, the agency allegedly received budgetary allocations in the 2026 Appropriation Act and opened multiple financial accounts, including a domiciliary account, a Pound Sterling account, and a Treasury Single Account (TSA) with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The NDC questioned how an agency described as non-existent could allegedly complete such official financial processes without the required documentation and approvals.
The opposition party also alleged that the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service may have processed documents linked to the agency. It further claimed that 314 staff positions were allegedly approved for the organization despite questions surrounding its legal status.
Citing allegations made by Adeyemi, the NDC claimed that the Chief of Staff allegedly demanded 48 percent of the agency’s take-off grant, reportedly valued at ₦27.4 billion. It also referenced claims that Adeyemi allegedly paid ₦600 million to secure his appointment, with ₦400 million reportedly paid through intermediaries while ₦200 million remained outstanding.
The party further expressed concern over the reported death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as an intermediary between Adeyemi and the Chief of Staff. According to the statement, Tanimola died in a fire incident at a hotel in Utako, Abuja, in October 2025. The NDC also referenced Adeyemi’s claims that he survived multiple assassination attempts and called for his immediate protection.

As part of its demands, the NDC called on President Tinubu to immediately remove Gbajabiamila from office, establish an independent investigative panel, investigate the reported death of Tanimola and the alleged assassination attempts on Adeyemi, subject official documents signed by the Chief of Staff to forensic examination, question relevant officials from the CBN, the Office of the Accountant-General and the Office of the Head of Civil Service, and direct the EFCC, ICPC and the Nigeria Police Force to launch a comprehensive investigation.
