The party made the announcement during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held at its state headquarters on School Road, Umuahia. The meeting focused on strengthening party unity, harmonising leadership structures, and reviewing the party’s readiness ahead of the next general elections.

Delivering the State of the Party Address, the Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike, highlighted the achievements of the State Working Committee since assuming office, noting that several reforms have been introduced to reposition the party for greater effectiveness.

He assured members that the leadership remains committed to building a united, disciplined, and well-organised party capable of delivering electoral success in 2027.

According to him, teamwork and collective leadership will define the party’s approach going forward.

“The era of one-man leadership is over. We will work together to ensure victory in the 2027 elections through unity, commitment, and teamwork,” he stated.

A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the draft 2027 Labour Party Campaign Guide by the State Secretary, Barr. Chuks Akamadu. The document provides operational guidelines, campaign coordination strategies, and organisational frameworks designed to support candidates and party officials throughout the election cycle.

The State Publicity Secretary, Iroegbu Emenike, also unveiled a digital communication and support architecture aimed at improving information management, enhancing coordination among party organs, and strengthening voter engagement across the state.

The proposed initiatives attracted widespread support from stakeholders, who described them as strategic steps toward building a more effective and modern political structure.

Speaking during the meeting, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, Hon. Acho Obioma, Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, and other party leaders commended the State Working Committee for introducing forward-looking reforms and pledged continued support for the implementation of the campaign framework.

Governor Alex Otti, while addressing participants, applauded the leadership of the Labour Party in Abia for its commitment to strengthening the party and maintaining internal unity.

He also praised members for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primary elections, describing the exercise as evidence of the Labour Party’s growing institutional strength and organisational maturity.

Governor Otti noted that while some political parties were still struggling with candidate nomination processes, the Labour Party had successfully concluded its primaries in an orderly manner.

Reflecting on the party’s recent challenges, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, stressing that true leadership requires prioritising the collective interest of the people above personal ambitions.

He urged party leaders, candidates, and supporters to remain disciplined, committed, and focused on grassroots mobilisation as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

According to the governor, sustained unity, effective organisation, and continuous engagement with the people remain the keys to electoral victory.

The meeting concluded with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the Labour Party across Abia State. The leadership also resolved to convene a broader stakeholders’ meeting in the coming weeks to deepen consultations and expand participation ahead of the elections.

In a move to boost the party’s operational capacity, the State Working Committee distributed six Toyota Sienna vehicles to strategic departments, including the offices of the State Chairman, State Secretary, Organising Secretary, Woman Leader, Youth Leader, and the Publicity Department.
