Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has expressed excitement over the proposed establishment of a $145 million solar manufacturing plant in the state, describing the project as a landmark investment that will accelerate industrialisation, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the state’s economy.
The governor made the remarks while receiving a delegation involved in the proposed investment, noting that the project aligns with his administration’s commitment to attracting strategic investments capable of transforming Abia into a leading industrial and manufacturing hub in Nigeria.
According to Governor Otti, the planned solar manufacturing facility is expected to boost local production of renewable energy equipment, reduce dependence on imported solar products, and support Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
He stated that beyond expanding the state’s industrial base, the investment would generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, stimulate technology transfer, encourage skills development, and create new opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to provide an enabling environment for investors through improved infrastructure, transparent policies, and business-friendly reforms. He stressed that Abia remains open to partnerships that promote economic diversification and sustainable development.
The proposed $145 million solar manufacturing plant is expected to position Abia as a key player in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector while contributing significantly to the state’s long-term economic growth and industrial transformation.
