The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of its ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
According to Jiti Ogunye, legal counsel to Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff voluntarily appeared before officials of the anti-corruption agency at its headquarters on Monday, where he responded to questions relating to the PFIPC controversy.
The investigation follows public concerns surrounding the establishment and activities of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, which has attracted scrutiny over its legitimacy and the circumstances surrounding its emergence.
Ogunye confirmed that his client fully cooperated with investigators during the session and provided the necessary explanations regarding the issues raised by the commission.
Gbajabiamila has consistently denied any wrongdoing or involvement in the alleged irregularities linked to the PFIPC. In a sworn statement, he maintained that he had no personal, official, or professional relationship with Adeyemi, whose name has been associated with the controversy.
The ICPC has yet to announce any formal charges against the Chief of Staff, and the investigation remains ongoing. The anti-corruption agency is expected to continue examining all relevant facts before making further decisions.
