The Abia State Government has pledged to support the academic journey of Master Michael Offorkaile, an outstanding student who scored 367 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), making him one of the joint fifth-highest scorers in Nigeria.
Governor Alex Otti announced this after receiving the brilliant student, alongside his parents and the management of Grundtvig International Secondary School, Oba, Anambra State, during a courtesy visit to the Government House.
Commending Michael for his exceptional academic performance, Governor Otti described the achievement as a testament to hard work, discipline, and dedication. He emphasized that the Abia State Government remains committed to promoting merit, excellence, and educational advancement.
The governor noted that Michael’s remarkable success serves as an inspiration to young people across Abia State and Nigeria, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence with determination and confidence.
To support the student’s educational aspirations, Governor Otti directed the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Uche Eme Uche, to work out the details of the state’s assistance for Michael’s higher education. He also instructed his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Dodoh Okafor, to work closely with the family to ensure seamless coordination of the support process.
Governor Otti reiterated that recognizing outstanding students is part of his administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence and creating opportunities for talented youths to thrive.
He expressed confidence that Michael would continue to excel in his academic pursuits and make Abia State and Nigeria proud on the global stage.
