NANS ZONE F LEADERSHIP MEETS ABIA STATE COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH AND SPORTS, SUBMITS KEY PROPOSALS FOR STUDENT DEVELOPMENT

Today, the Abia Zonal Representative of NANS ZONE F, Comr. Mbakwe Sunday, alongside his team, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Ananaba Nwobilor, at his office in Umuahia. The delegation included:

Comr. Ikpeama Fortune – MOUAU President

Comr. Chibuzo Nkwaeze – President, College of Nursing

Comr. Ukpai Unique – NANS JCC VP-Elect

Comr. Samuel – NANS JCC Director of Sports

Comr. Chibueze Miracle – SA on Media and Publicity

Comr. Chibuisi Greatness

During the meeting, Comr. Mbakwe Sunday commended Hon. Ananaba Nwobilor for his outstanding contributions to youth and sports development in the state. He further expressed deep appreciation to the Proactive and Digital Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), for appointing a dedicated professional and manpower expert to oversee youth and sports affairs.

KEY PROPOSALS SUBMITTED

The NANS ZONE F leadership officially submitted two critical proposals to the Commissioner:

  1. Abia State Indigent Student Bursary Scheme (ASISBS) – Aimed at providing financial relief to indigent students across Abia tertiary institutions.
  2. Abia State Tertiary Institutions Sports and Leadership Summit (ASTISLS) – A platform to enhance sports participation and leadership development among students.

Hon. Ananaba Nwobilor carefully reviewed the proposals and revealed that his office, in partnership with the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, already had plans for inter-school sports activities across all tertiary institutions in Abia State. However, acknowledging the importance of the proposal, he assured that Comr. Samuel (NANS JCC Director of Sports) would be an automatic member of the organizing committee, and tasked the NANS leadership to develop additional sporting activities while also strategizing on how to implement the bursary scheme for indigent students.

OTHER KEY DISCUSSIONS

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of responsible parenting, advising youths to plan their families wisely and ensure they can adequately provide for their children. He also encouraged self-discipline, responsibility, and financial independence as essential values for young leaders.

Comr. Ikpeama Fortune (MOUOA President) thanked the Commissioner for his open-door policy and strongly emphasized the need for the bursary scheme, stressing that many students are in dire need of financial support.

Comr. Ukpai Unique (NANS JCC VP-Elect) also commended the Commissioner and officially invited him to the upcoming NANS JCC Inauguration.

NANS ZONE F’S COMMITMENT TO STUDENT WELFARE

In his closing remarks, Comr. Mbakwe Sunday expressed profound gratitude to the Honorable Commissioner for his time, despite his busy schedule. He further extended appreciation to Governor Alex Otti (OFR) for his unwavering support of the student community. He also applauded the appointment of Hon. Maryfaith, a student of ABSU, to the Nigerian Youth Parliament, noting that such recognition affirms the government’s commitment to youth empowerment.

The NANS ZONE F leadership reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with the Commissioner’s office to ensure the realization of these projects and the overall improvement of student welfare across Abia State.

Signed:
Comr. Mbakwe Sunday
