In a heartwarming celebration of motherhood, Hon. Obi Aguocha, the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, joined the Assemblies of God Church on Sunday to commemorate this year’s Mothering Sunday.
The event was filled with gratitude, praise, and reaffirmation of the vital role of women in both the Church and society at large.
In a statement issued to the press, Hon. Aguocha expressed deep admiration for the resilience, strength, and moral leadership of Christian mothers.
He emphasized that their unwavering faith, nurturing spirit, and commitment to godly values form the bedrock of not just strong families, but also a prosperous and morally upright nation.
“Our Christian mothers are pillars of faith and guardians of righteousness in our homes and communities,” Hon. Aguocha declared. “They are the first teachers, the prayer warriors, and often the moral compass for both children and husbands. Their role in shaping society cannot be overstated.”
The lawmaker lauded the Assemblies of God Women’s Fellowship for their dedication to evangelism, community service, and family life enrichment.
He also used the occasion to underscore the importance of faith-based parenting in today’s rapidly changing world, urging mothers not to relent in their spiritual and social responsibilities.
“In these times of moral decline and societal confusion, Christian mothers must rise and shine as beacons of hope and light. When our homes are strong, our nation will be strong,” he added.
Hon. Aguocha reiterated his unwavering support for women empowerment initiatives and assured his constituents that he would continue to advocate policies that uplift women and support families.
He acknowledged the efforts of Christian women in grassroots development, peace-building, and mentoring the younger generation.
“Nation-building is not the work of government alone. It starts in the home, and our mothers are the architects of that foundation,” he said.
“You are not just mothers in the family; you are mothers to the nation.”
In conclusion, Hon. Obi Aguocha encouraged the women to keep up their good work in the vineyard of the Lord.
