The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, has handed over a newly built and fully furnished home to a widow, Mrs. Rose Nduka, in Umuohuru, Okaiuga Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
The handover ceremony brought together community leaders, political stakeholders, family members and other dignitaries who gathered to witness the presentation of the keys to the beneficiary. The event was marked by expressions of gratitude and excitement as Mrs. Nduka took possession of her new home.
Speaking during the occasion, Aguocha said the intervention was driven by his commitment to making political representation meaningful to ordinary constituents, particularly vulnerable members of the community.
According to him, the project goes beyond the construction of a physical structure, as it represents an effort to restore dignity, provide security and offer renewed hope to a constituent in need.
He assured residents that the intervention was part of a broader commitment to constituency development, stressing that there were more initiatives ahead.

“This is only one of many interventions; there is still more to come,” Aguocha said.
The lawmaker also called for greater unity and cooperation among the people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South, maintaining that effective representation should extend beyond legislative responsibilities to practical programmes capable of improving the lives of constituents.
At the event, the Representative for Ohuhu State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, commended Aguocha for the initiative and appealed to constituents to support his return to the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
Akaliro argued that continued support for Aguocha would provide an opportunity for the lawmaker to sustain and expand his constituency interventions. He encouraged residents to assess the representative’s record of community engagement, projects and other interventions when making their political decisions ahead of 2027.
Also speaking, Hon. Dr. Aham Uko, PhD, the Umuahia North State Constituency Coordinator of the Labour Party Campaign Council, described the housing project as evidence of how purposeful representation can directly affect the lives of ordinary people.
Uko expressed support for Aguocha’s re-election bid, noting that continuity could allow existing programmes to be strengthened while creating room for additional initiatives across the constituency. He also called on supporters and constituents to remain united and mobilise at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 election.
Other community leaders and stakeholders at the ceremony similarly expressed appreciation for the intervention. Their comments focused on the importance of grassroots representation, continuity and the implementation of programmes that address the practical needs of constituents.
For Mrs. Rose Nduka, the handover was an emotional and memorable moment. The beneficiary expressed deep appreciation to Aguocha for the gesture, offering prayers for him and his family and thanking him for providing her with a new home and a renewed sense of hope.
The event consequently became more than the handover of a furnished house. It also offered an opportunity for residents and political stakeholders to assess Aguocha’s constituency engagement and discuss the importance of continuity ahead of the 2027 elections.
