Nigerian skit maker Kevin Arua, popularly known as Kevinblak, has revealed that he has received several threats over his political satire targeting bad governance through his popular character, Governor Amuneke.
Kevinblak made the disclosure while appearing on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Mind, where he spoke about the risks associated with using comedy and satire to address political and governance issues in Nigeria.
The content creator said he understood that his decision to create politically charged skits could attract criticism and possible backlash. However, he maintained that he was prepared for the consequences when he began using the Governor Amuneke character to comment on issues affecting citizens.
According to the skit maker, one of the messages he received contained an alleged threat from an individual who warned that they would come after him at his residence.
Despite the reported threats, Kevinblak said he has refused to be intimidated and remains committed to using comedy as a means of drawing attention to concerns about governance and public accountability.
The Governor Amuneke character has become a notable part of Kevinblak’s political comedy, allowing him to portray and satirise issues surrounding leadership, public officials and the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.
While acknowledging the potential risks associated with political satire, the skit maker maintained that his intention is to use his platform to encourage conversations about governance rather than remain silent on issues he believes deserve public attention.
