Women in Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency have reportedly expressed support for Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, commending his efforts to provide housing for widows and improve the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
The women described the housing intervention as a meaningful step towards addressing the accommodation difficulties confronting widows, noting that access to decent shelter remains essential to building safer and more stable living conditions for disadvantaged families.
According to them, providing homes for widows goes beyond meeting an immediate need for shelter, as it also offers beneficiaries and their children a greater sense of security, dignity and hope for the future.
They stressed that initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups should remain an important component of effective representation, adding that elected officials have a responsibility to pay attention to the everyday challenges faced by their constituents.
The women further noted that Aguocha’s reported housing intervention has become one of the factors influencing their assessment of his representation of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency. They maintained that programmes addressing the needs of widows, low-income households and other disadvantaged members of society deserve recognition and sustained attention.
Beyond housing, the women called for more initiatives focused on education, healthcare, skills acquisition and economic empowerment. They also emphasized the importance of expanding housing support to reach more widows and disadvantaged households across the constituency, noting that sustained collaboration between political representatives, community leaders and relevant stakeholders would help ensure that more people benefit from such interventions.
