Abia, FG to Break Ground on FHA Housing Estate in Umuahia

The Abia State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing, has announced plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Housing Estate in Umuahia.

According to a press statement issued on April 18, 2026, the project is aimed at expanding access to affordable housing, improving urban infrastructure, and raising living standards across the state. The initiative is also expected to support sustainable community development and economic growth.

The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the project site located in Umuahia North, along the Ubani–Uzuakoli Road near Dawis School. Guests are expected to be seated by 10:30 a.m.

Government officials said the event will bring together key stakeholders, including representatives of the Federal Government, Abia State Government officials, development partners, traditional rulers, and community leaders.

Residents of Umuahia North and surrounding communities have been encouraged to attend the ceremony, which authorities describe as a significant milestone in the state’s housing and infrastructure development drive.

The FHA Housing Estate is part of broader efforts to address housing deficits while promoting inclusive development. Officials say the project will contribute to long-term socio-economic improvement in Abia State.
