Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has made a startling disclosure, revealing that he knows the exact locations of bandits wreaking havoc across the state but cannot move against them due to lack of control over Nigeria’s security agencies.
Speaking while condemning the escalating wave of insecurity, Governor Lawal insisted that if he were granted direct authority over the nation’s security apparatus, he would wipe out banditry in Zamfara within just two months.
The disclosure was reported by DAILY POST via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Governor Lawal boldly declared that every bandit leader in Zamfara is already on his radar and that he could pinpoint their exact hideouts using nothing more than his mobile phone.
“I swear to Almighty Allah, wherever a bandit leader is located in Zamfara State, I know it. With my phone, I can show you their locations today. But we cannot act because we don’t have the power,” he said.
The governor described the atrocities of the armed groups as unbearable, stressing that banditry has claimed countless innocent lives and must be eradicated at all costs.
His statement has triggered intense debate on the urgent need for state police, with many Nigerians questioning why governors remain powerless in addressing insecurity despite being closest to the people.
