Hon. Obi Aguocha, the lawmaker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has penned an emotional birthday message to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
In his heartfelt tribute, Aguocha praised Kanu as a “courageous son of Igboland,” highlighting his enduring sacrifices and struggles for justice and fairness. He noted that even in detention, Kanu embodies resilience and the collective aspirations of millions of Nigerians seeking equity and a better future.

The federal lawmaker also renewed his call for dialogue, reconciliation, and a political solution to Kanu’s prolonged detention. According to Aguocha, Kanu’s release would be a significant step toward promoting peace-building, unity, and national cohesion. He further urged the Nigerian government to embrace justice and fairness in resolving the issues surrounding Kanu’s case.
