Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has said he will back whoever emerges as the presidential flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a welcome ceremony for new defectors into the coalition party in Lagos State on Saturday, Atiku — represented by Prof. Ola Olateju — stated that he would not predetermine the party’s 2027 presidential candidate but pledged his full support for a free and fair selection process.
Atiku emphasized that the ADC leadership is committed to creating a level playing field for all aspirants, ensuring transparency and credibility in its primaries. He also reassured members and supporters that the party’s internal democracy would strengthen its chances ahead of the polls.
