NEDMO pledges to fight corruption, reform INEC, and restore integrity to Nigeria’s politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

A new political force, the New Direction for Nigeria Movement (NEDMO), has emerged with a strong commitment to rebuild public trust and eliminate corruption from Nigeria’s political system.

Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, the convener of the movement, Comrade Mark Adebayo, described NEDMO as a people-driven coalition born out of frustration with decades of failed leadership, electoral malpractice, and systemic injustice.

According to Adebayo, NEDMO’s formation is a direct response to what he termed a “broken political structure” that no longer reflects the will of the Nigerian people.

“We are tired of leaders who manipulate elections and ignore the suffering of Nigerians,” Adebayo said. “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must be reformed. We can no longer tolerate an electoral system that betrays the trust of citizens and suffocates democracy.”

NEDMO’s core mission, Adebayo explained, is to build a new Nigeria based on integrity, justice, and transparency. The movement seeks to mobilize citizens—especially the youth, professionals, and grassroots communities—to reclaim political power from corrupt elites who have dominated the system for too long.

To achieve this, the group is demanding a complete overhaul of INEC, the implementation of stronger electoral laws, and the selection of leaders who are not only competent but also accountable and patriotic.

Adebayo emphasized that true transformation can only happen when Nigerians unite under a shared vision of progress and accountability.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us,” he urged. “If we don’t act now, the same corrupt system will continue to rob future generations of hope.”

The movement, which already boasts a presence in more than 600 local government areas, plans to expand its operations nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections. With its growing network of volunteers and supporters, NEDMO believes it can become a major force in reshaping Nigeria’s political destiny.

Political observers note that the emergence of NEDMO has sparked renewed public discussion about the urgent need for credible leadership and democratic reform in Africa’s largest democracy.

As Nigeria heads toward another election cycle, many citizens are watching closely to see whether this new movement can translate its bold vision into tangible political change.
