The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has postponed the hearing of a case filed by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and several others over alleged certificate irregularities.

Justice Hauwa Yilwa ordered the adjournment following the failure of the counsel representing UNN and its officers to submit their responses to the court.

In the suit, Minister Nnaji listed as respondents the Minister of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, and three other individuals.

Through an ex-parte motion, the minister sought a prohibitory writ preventing UNN and its officials from allegedly “tampering with” or continuing to “tamper with” his academic records.

Nnaji also requested a mandamus order compelling the university to release his academic transcript, urging the Minister of Education and the NUC to use their supervisory powers to enforce compliance.

The case, which centers on alleged certificate forgery claims and record interference, has drawn attention within educational and political circles. The court is expected to reconvene once all parties have properly filed their submissions.
