In a fresh wave of political realignments within Nigeria’s National Assembly, six members of the House of Representatives have officially announced their defection to new political parties.

Four lawmakers from Kano State, elected under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have crossed over to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The defectors include Sani Wakili, who represents Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency; Muktar Zakari of Tarauni Federal Constituency; Yusuf Datti, representing Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam Federal Constituency; and Abdulhakeem Ado of Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency.

In a separate development, two lawmakers have also exited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). They are Chinedu Martins from Imo State and Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace from Zamfara State.
