Tinubu Approves Fresh Education Sector Appointments, Retains Key Officials

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new set of appointments and renewals across critical institutions in Nigeria’s education sector, signaling continuity and administrative stability in key agencies.


According to the announcement, several experienced professionals have been entrusted with leadership roles, while some serving officials have been retained or reappointed to complete ongoing reforms.


At the National Examinations Council (NECO), Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been named Chairman of the Governing Board. Meanwhile, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi will continue in his role as Registrar and Chief Executive, ensuring policy consistency within the examination body.


Similarly, in the technical education space, Professor Babatunde Salako has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The President also approved the reappointment of Professor Idris M. Bugaje as Executive Secretary of NBTE for a second and final five-year term, reinforcing ongoing efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education.

Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa – Rector, Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State (5-year term)

Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi – Renewed as Director/Chief Executive, National Library of Nigeria (final 5-year term)


In another key development, Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nyak-Shendam for a five-year tenure. His appointment is expected to support academic growth and institutional development at the polytechnic.

Additionally, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has been granted a renewed term as Director and Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria. This will be her final five-year term, during which she is expected to consolidate ongoing initiatives aimed at improving library services nationwide.
