Human rights activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has renewed his call for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Through the ongoing #FreeNnamdiKanuNow campaign, Sowore declared that the time for hesitation is over, urging political and moral leaders across Nigeria to take bold action.

In a passionate update shared on Wednesday, Sowore revealed that he personally reached out to several top figures, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, through their respective teams.

According to Sowore, both Otti and Soludo did not take his calls nor reply to his messages, though their aides assured him that Mr. Peter Obi who is currently abroad would be informed of the campaign’s plans.

Sowore also contacted former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar through his team, while Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe promised to return his call. He confirmed speaking with Hon. Obinna Aguocha of the House of Representatives, describing him as receptive and encouraging.

He further disclosed that members of the Abia State House of Assembly plan to travel to London next week and then proceed to Abuja for further engagements. They reportedly intend to meet with the Attorney General of the Federation to lodge a formal complaint rather than engage in street protests a move Sowore said aligns with the broader goal of unified action.

“This is not the time for hesitation. If we truly believe that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu deserves freedom, then every leader of conscience must act now, not later,” Sowore emphasized.

Sowore reaffirmed that the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow movement will not relent until justice and freedom are achieved, stressing that silence in the face of injustice only strengthens oppression.
