In a powerful show of solidarity, Hon. Obi Aguocha, a respected lawmaker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, has officially endorsed the upcoming “Free Nnamdi Kanu Peaceful March” organized by activist and political leader, Omoyele Sowore.

In a press statement released on October 9, 2025, Hon. Aguocha expressed his unwavering support for the march, which is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2025, at 7 a.m. The movement seeks the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Aguocha emphasized that his backing of the protest goes beyond constituency loyalty, highlighting that Kanu’s prolonged detention represents a broader pattern of injustice against the Igbo people.

“By this press statement, I wholeheartedly lend my support to the march, not only because Nnamdi Kanu is my constituent but for the greater reason of stemming the unusual injustice against Ndigbo,” the lawmaker declared.

He urged Nigerians across ethnic and political divides to rise in unity against systemic injustice, stating that “there comes a time in the affairs of nations when unusual situations demand unusual reactions — that time is now.”

The Free Nnamdi Kanu March is expected to draw participants from across the country, with civil rights groups, youth movements, and political figures pledging to join in what is anticipated to be a major peaceful demonstration.

Signed:
Hon. Obi Aguocha
Member, House of Representatives
