Godwin Asiegbu defends Gov. Alex Otti’s anti-rigging warning, saying only criminals feel threatened by calls for electoral integrity in Abia.

Public affairs analyst Godwin Asiegbu has reacted sharply to those expressing fear over Governor Alex C. Otti’s recent statement warning against election rigging ahead of the 2027 general elections in Abia State.

Asiegbu described such reactions as “laughable and self-indicting,” emphasizing that only those with criminal tendencies would feel uneasy about a message directed at election offenders.

“You have to be multidimensionally stupid to publicly admit that you feel threatened by a ‘threat’ directed at criminals,” Asiegbu stated.

He reiterated that Governor Otti’s warning was a firm stance against electoral malpractice and a clear message that rigging and result manipulation would not be tolerated in Abia State.

Governor Otti had earlier cautioned potential election manipulators, saying:

“Those planning to write election results in Abia in 2027 should first write their will.”

Asiegbu hailed the governor’s comment as a bold declaration for electoral integrity, urging genuine politicians and law-abiding citizens to support the governor’s efforts to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.

He added that honest leaders should have no reason to feel threatened unless they intend to engage in illegal acts.

“Governor Otti’s statement is not a threat to democracy it’s a call to protect it,” Asiegbu concluded.
