The Federal High Court in Abuja has officially scheduled November 20 as the date to deliver judgment in the terrorism case involving Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The date was fixed on Friday by Justice Omotosho, who ruled after the court noted that Kanu had exhausted the six days allotted to him to present his defense but did not open it.

According to the court, the defendant cannot claim to have been denied the right to a fair hearing when he did not take advantage of the opportunity provided to him to defend himself. The Federal Government has maintained a seven-count terrorism charge against Kanu, relating to his actions and statements associated with the separatist movement for Biafra.

The decision to set a judgment date marks a crucial step in a trial that has drawn national and international attention, especially among pro-Biafra supporters and human rights observers.

The upcoming judgment on November 20 is expected to shape the next phase of the ongoing legal and political discourse surrounding Kanu’s detention, the activities of IPOB, and broader security issues in Nigeria’s South-East region.

Observers, legal experts, and supporters are now closely watching the court, awaiting what may become a defining moment in one of the country’s most high-profile legal battles.
