The Majority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has dismissed reports suggesting an alleged plot to impeach the President of the Senate. He described the claims as false and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
Reacting to the viral reports on Wednesday, Bamidele stated that the Senate would not tolerate any form of misinformation aimed at creating division or distracting lawmakers from their national duties.
The Senate Leader clarified that the rumours originated from a misinterpreted interview attributed to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. According to Bamidele, Senator Kalu had since clarified that his statements were taken out of context and never intended to imply any impeachment move against the Senate leadership.
Reaffirming unity among members, Bamidele emphasized that the 10th Senate remains focused, stable, and committed to its legislative responsibilities under a cohesive leadership. He added that any attempt to spread falsehood about internal activities of the Senate would be met with strong disapproval.
