A 29-year-old woman has reportedly died after an alleged domestic violence incident involving her husband in Owerri, Imo State.

A 29-year-old woman identified as Olumma Chizoba Lucy Akataobi has reportedly lost her life following an alleged case of domestic violence in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

According to information from family sources, the tragic incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday, February 2. Relatives allege that Olumma was physically assaulted by her husband during a domestic dispute, which they believe ultimately led to her death.

While official statements from law enforcement authorities are still awaited, the case has sparked renewed concern over the rising incidents of domestic violence across Nigeria. Advocacy groups and concerned citizens have called for a thorough investigation and swift justice if the allegations are confirmed.

The incident has also reignited public conversations about the need for stronger protections for victims of domestic abuse and increased awareness about reporting early signs of violence within homes.
