Abia Governor Alex Otti approves new boards for RARA, State Roads Fund and Lottery Board to boost infrastructure and accountability.
The Abia State Government has approved the constitution of governing boards for three strategic agencies aimed at strengthening infrastructure development and regulatory oversight across the state.
Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, gave approval for the appointment of board members for the Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA), the State Roads Fund (SRF), and the Abia State Lottery Board. The move is part of ongoing reforms designed to enhance transparency, improve road infrastructure, and strengthen institutional efficiency.
For the Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA), Engr. Alex O. Ezumah has been appointed as Chairman, while Engr. Amarachi Monday Kalu will serve as Director General. Other members of the board include Mr. Uka Nwankwo Uka, Engr. Godswill Ubani, and Engr. Kelechi Nwuka. The agency plays a critical role in expanding and maintaining rural road networks to improve connectivity and economic activity across communities.
The State Roads Fund (SRF) Board will be chaired by Engr. Onwukwe Ifeanyi, with Mr. Onyekachi Ernest-Aguocha appointed as Director General. Members of the board include Mr. Godwin Chinedum Onwuka, Mr. Chyka Ibeku, and Dr. Florence Chidinma Nwogu. The SRF is expected to mobilize and manage funding dedicated to sustainable road maintenance and development across Abia State.
For the Abia State Lottery Board, Owobe Ikechukwu Chikezie has been named Chairman, while Ikechukwu Ndubuisi Ngwu will serve as Managing Director. Other board members are Munachiso Eze Nwosuegbe Esq., Mr. Emeka Chionye, and Mrs. Chibuzo Ehiemere. The board is tasked with regulating lottery operations and ensuring compliance with state laws while promoting responsible gaming practices.
Governor Otti urged the newly appointed board members to uphold integrity, professionalism, and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities. He emphasized that their roles are central to the administration’s commitment to building a modern, accountable, and economically vibrant Abia State.
