Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, is set to host a landmark Abia Business Roundtable on Thursday, March 5, 2026, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration between the state government and the private sector. The high-level engagement will take place at the International Conference Center Umuahia by 10:00 a.m.

The initiative, according to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, was unveiled during a joint press briefing at Government House, Umuahia. He appeared alongside the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Abia State Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Office (PPP & IPO), Mr. Chinedum Chijioke. Both officials emphasized that the forum is designed to create a strong platform for exchanging ideas and promoting business-friendly policies in the state.

Governor Otti will preside over the roundtable session, which is expected to bring together key players from various sectors of the Nigerian economy. The event aims to open direct communication channels between government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and members of the business community drawn from across the country.

Prince Kanu explained that discussions at the meeting will focus on strategies to enhance Abia’s investment climate, address business challenges, and unlock new economic opportunities. He noted that the gathering would allow participants to share their expectations while also learning about policies and incentives already introduced by the state government to stimulate growth.

Speaking at the briefing, Mr. Chinedum Chijioke stressed that globally, thriving economies are largely driven by the private sector, while governments provide the enabling environment for growth. He described the Abia Business Roundtable as a strategic step toward building a collaborative structure where entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers can jointly shape economic direction.

Chijioke further revealed that this is the first initiative of its kind in Abia State and will serve as a foundation for sustained engagement between the government and active business leaders. He disclosed that participation is strictly by registration and invitation. Interested business owners can obtain the registration link by sending a text message or WhatsApp message to 08086608448. After review of submitted details, selected participants will receive official invitations.

According to the organizers, invitations are targeted at active business operators, including employers of labour and companies generating significant annual revenue. The goal is to assemble stakeholders who are directly contributing to economic development and job creation in Abia State.
