A passenger train traveling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed on Monday morning after colliding with another train carriage along the busy rail corridor, leaving several passengers injured and causing major disruption to the service.
The incident occurred near kilometer marker 49 while the train was operating the 7:30 a.m. service. According to reports from passengers and eyewitnesses, the collision caused significant damage to multiple coaches, with parts of the train reportedly bent and some sections overturned.
Videos circulating online from the scene showed emergency responders and railway officials working to assist passengers and assess the damage. Several injured passengers received immediate attention while others were evacuated from the affected coaches.
The derailment temporarily halted operations along the Kaduna–Abuja rail line, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded for about 30 minutes before partial services resumed.
Despite the scale of the incident, no fatalities were reported. However, passengers expressed frustration over the lack of immediate communication from authorities.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) had not released an official statement at the time many passengers were seeking updates.

The line has previously experienced derailments and operational challenges, prompting renewed calls for improved rail safety, better maintenance, and stronger emergency response systems.
