PDP Chieftain Chief Nzeribe Okegbue Resigns Over Prolonged Leadership Crisis

A prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party in Abia State, Chief Nzeribe Okegbue, has officially resigned from the party, citing the unresolved leadership crisis rocking the opposition platform.


In a resignation letter dated May 4, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP in Usaka Ward, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief Okegbue announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.


The respected academic and political figure explained that his decision was driven by the prolonged internal disputes and instability within the party leadership, which he said had remained unresolved for a long period.


Chief Okegbue, who served as a caucus member at the Ikwuano LGA level, expressed appreciation to the party for giving him the opportunity to contribute to its growth and activities over the years. He also acknowledged his involvement in several committees at both the state and national levels of the party.


According to him, the experiences, relationships, and lessons gained during his time in the PDP remain valuable and memorable.


His resignation adds to the growing list of political developments within the PDP as the party continues to face internal challenges ahead of future political activities in Nigeria.

The letter was signed personally by Chief Nzeribe Okegbue, PhD, alongside his professional titles and affiliations.
