Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly passed away after battling kidney cancer, according to sources within the Nigerian movie industry.
A Nollywood insider, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that the actor was rushed to a hospital on Monday after his health condition worsened. The source further revealed that Ekubo had been secretly battling kidney cancer for some time before his death.
According to the report, the talented actor died on Tuesday afternoon after spending several hours on life support.
Rumours about Alex Ekubo’s health challenges first surfaced in May 2025 after fans noticed his prolonged absence from social media and public appearances. The speculation continued to grow as the actor remained inactive online for months.
