The 9th day of April 2025, will forever be remembered as a turning point in the annals of Ofeme history. In a general meeting held at the iconic Umunkpu Hall, Ude Ofeme in Ofeme Autonomous Community, the people of Ofeme came together in one voice to ratify the reconciliation and harmonization agreement reached on the 5th of April, 2025, between the two factions of the Ofeme Progressive Union Federated (OPUF).
This landmark decision marks the end of division and heralds a new dawn of unity, peace, and collective progress for our dear Ofeme. It was a well-attended meeting that reflected the deep yearning of the people for brotherhood and collaboration. The seamless nature of this noble achievement has finally put to rest all agitations, including those who once doubted the possibility of holding such a general meeting within the Ofeme Autonomous Community. The unity of purpose displayed by all present was both humbling and inspiring.
In a moment that captured the spirit of the day, the last elected Vice President General and Acting President General of OPUF, Royal High Chief Aguikwu Emma Ifeanyi, who also serves as the Traditional Prime Minister of Mbato Ofeme Autonomous Community, graciously handed over the leadership mantle to the harmonized executive body led by High Chief Raymond Ofoegbu, Onyinye Ohuhu Gburugburu. It was a powerful symbol of peace, honor, and continuity.
That symbolic handover was not just a transition of leadership, but a bold statement that Ofeme is ready to rise as one united entity. The crowd erupted with joy, reflecting the collective hope for a brighter, more prosperous future.
Indeed, this milestone sets the stage for unprecedented growth, deeper cultural cohesion, and stronger representation of Ofeme’s interests. We celebrate this achievement with joy and gratitude, knowing that when a people come together with sincerity and love for their land, nothing is impossible.
Let this day stand as a reminder that unity is strength, and that Ofeme, in all its autonomous components, is one family with a shared destiny.
Long live Ofeme!
Long live OPUF!
Forward ever, backward never!
High Chief Raymond Ofoegbu
