Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh resigns from APGA, triggering political reactions in Abia State and Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency.
The political landscape in Abia State has shifted following the resignation of Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The federal lawmaker, who represents Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, confirmed his departure from the party with immediate effect.
Ikwechegh, widely known in Aba as Onyeocha N’Aba, communicated his decision in a formal letter addressed to his ward chairman. In the letter, written on his official House of Representatives letterhead, he conveyed gratitude to APGA for the opportunity to serve under its platform.
He stated that he was formally stepping down from his membership of APGA effective immediately, appreciating the party for the support and platform it provided during his political journey. He also wished the party continued growth and success in its future engagements.
Although the resignation letter did not outline specific reasons for his decision, the move is already generating conversations within Abia’s political circles, particularly in Aba where the lawmaker enjoys notable grassroots backing.
