Abia APC affirms Benjamin Kalu as state leader, adopts President Tinubu as sole candidate, and passes vote of confidence ahead of 2027 elections.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has officially recognized the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, as the party’s leader in the state, reinforcing internal unity ahead of future political contests.
The decision was reached during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held at Kalu’s residence in Bende Local Government Area. The gathering brought together key party figures who used the opportunity to deliberate on the party’s direction, structure, and preparations for upcoming electoral activities.
Beyond affirming Kalu’s leadership, the Abia APC stakeholders also unanimously adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. The meeting concluded with a vote of confidence in Tinubu’s administration, signaling strong backing from the state chapter of the ruling party.
Addressing party members, Kalu expressed optimism about the APC’s prospects in Abia State, stating that the party is poised to exceed the constitutional requirement of 25 percent of votes needed to secure victory in the presidential election. He assured attendees that the chapter would mobilize massive grassroots support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
