The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has publicly distanced itself from comments attributed to Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, stating that his remarks supporting another political party do not represent the position of the party in the state. The party also hinted at possible disciplinary action following the development.
According to a statement released by the Abia APC Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party leadership became aware of remarks allegedly made by Ogah during an event organized by the Labour Party in Isuikwuato. During the event, Ogah reportedly declared that despite being a member of the APC, he would support the Labour Party in its bid to win the Abia governorship election in 2027.
Reacting to the statement, the APC leadership in Abia expressed strong disapproval, describing the alleged comments as reckless and irresponsible. The party emphasized that Ogah’s remarks do not reflect the ideals, objectives, or political direction of the APC in the state.
Party officials revealed that suspicions had previously arisen about Ogah’s loyalty to the party. As a result, the leadership had already taken steps to restrict his participation in internal party communications. This reportedly included his removal from official party communication platforms such as WhatsApp groups and other internal discussion channels.
The Abia APC further reiterated that the party remains united and determined under the leadership of Benjamin Kalu, who currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives. The party stated that its members are focused on strengthening their political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the APC is preparing to compete vigorously in the presidential, national assembly, governorship, and state assembly elections in 2027. Party leaders stressed that individuals whose actions undermine the party’s collective ambition would not be tolerated.
The party also condemned what it described as an anti-party stance allegedly demonstrated by Ogah, noting that such behavior threatens party unity and credibility. Consequently, the APC announced that its disciplinary procedures would be activated to investigate the matter thoroughly and determine appropriate sanctions.
Addressing party supporters and residents of Abia State, the APC urged them to disregard the remarks, describing them as an act of political sabotage. The party emphasized that it would not accommodate individuals who weaken its internal cohesion or pursue political relevance through actions that contradict party interests.
