Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has unveiled the ₦1.016 trillion 2026 budget, highlighting aggressive investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, energy, and job creation. Delivered at the State House of Assembly in Umuahia, the budget dubbed “Budget of Acceleration and New Possibilities” aims to transform Abia into a leading investment and innovation hub.
The governor emphasized education and healthcare as top priorities, with thousands of teachers and health professionals recruited, over 200 primary healthcare centers upgraded, and major hospitals modernized. Road construction and urban renewal projects remain a focus, alongside new initiatives in the digital economy and public transport, including electric buses for urban mass transit.
Otti also stressed revenue growth through improved IGR collection and prudent fiscal management, pledging that recurrent expenditures will be funded entirely from internally generated revenue, while external funds target capital projects.
