The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a strong start in its nationwide electronic membership registration exercise, projecting that the number of registered members will exceed nine million within two weeks of launch.
The party’s National Working Committee expressed optimism over the pace of the digital registration, noting that more than two million Nigerians have already enrolled within the first week. The development highlights growing public engagement with the ruling party’s new technology-driven approach to membership management.
Speaking during a media briefing on Monday, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, disclosed the figures while representing the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. According to him, the impressive turnout reflects both public confidence in the party and the effectiveness of the electronic registration platform.
Basiru stressed that the exercise is aimed at strengthening internal organization through reliable and verifiable data. He explained that accurate membership records would enhance planning, coordination, and overall operational efficiency across all party structures nationwide.
He further revealed that the party expects the registration figure to rise significantly by the next assessment, with projections ranging between eight and nine million members. To ensure optimal performance, the National Working Committee has also been empowered to take corrective measures in states that fail to meet expectations.
“As part of accountability measures, any state found to be underperforming may have its registration coordinator replaced,” Basiru stated, reaffirming the party’s commitment to a transparent and results-driven process.
The APC’s digital registration initiative marks a major step toward modernizing party administration and consolidating its support base ahead of future political engagements.
