EFCC declares Emeka Ufomba wanted for alleged diversion of public funds, money laundering, and conspiracy. Public urged to provide information.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public notice declaring Emeka Ufomba wanted for alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, stealing, and money laundering.
According to a statement released on Thursday by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, the notice was shared on the Commission’s official Facebook page. The move marks the latest development in the agency’s probe into financial crimes allegedly linked to some Abia State indigenes.

The EFCC stated that Emeka Ufomba, aged 49 and originally from Abia State, is being sought for questioning over the alleged financial crimes. His last known address is listed as 13 Unity Drive, Eneka Paradise Estate, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Commission has urged members of the public with useful information about Ufomba’s whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide — including Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja. Wider Probe into Abia State Finances
This declaration comes just days after the EFCC named two other Abia State indigenes, Christopher Enweremadu and Fortune Ozoemela, as wanted for similar allegations of criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, and money laundering.
Christopher Enweremadu, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters under ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, is linked to an ongoing investigation into the management of funds allocated to Abia’s 17 local government areas.
In December 2024, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja authorized a probe into LGA allocations between 2019 and 2023, directing the EFCC to submit its findings. The court also ordered the seizure of international passports belonging to Enweremadu, Erondu Uchenna Erondu (a former aide to Governor Ikpeazu), and Deaconess Joy Nwanju, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Important Legal Note
The EFCC’s declaration of a suspect as wanted does not amount to a conviction. All individuals mentioned remain innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. The ongoing investigations suggest that further legal action or litigation may follow as the probe progresses.
