Mele Kyari, the former Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after honoring an invitation for questioning.

Sources within the EFCC confirmed that Kyari voluntarily appeared before the anti-graft agency earlier today as part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct at NNPCL. His release followed hours of interrogation regarding issues linked to suspected fraud within the organization.

Kyari’s invitation and subsequent release mark a significant step in the EFCC’s intensified drive to ensure accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The Commission has reiterated its commitment to conducting thorough investigations to uncover any irregularities, while maintaining due process and respecting individual rights.
