Gunmen k!ll health worker in Ondo
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have k!lled a 46-year-old health worker, Akinola Oyabiyi, in Ondo State.

Oyabiyi, a father of four, was shot d3ad near Akure Airport at Eleyowo in the Akure North Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

A member of Oyabiyi’s family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told newsmen on Friday that the health worker was returning home when the assailants opened fire on him.

According to the source, the deceased was suspected to have attempted to escape abduction when the gunmen shot him at close range.

“The incident happened on Tuesday at about 8 pm when he was going home. The people attacked him. I think they were trying to kidnap him,” the source said.

“He was shot in the belly and he d!ed shortly after. We learnt the bandits came out from the bush and shot him in his car.”

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident said the police are on top of the matter.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at a hospital morgue.
