A members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Eze Gabriel has dumped Labour Party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Gabriel, who represents Isi-Uzo constituency defected to the ruling party in the state on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

In a letter addressed to Uche Ugwu, the Speaker of the House and read on the floor of the plenary, Gabriel said his decision to leave the Labour Party was based on irreconcilable divisions and persistent crisis among party members and leaders.

He also said that the party which once represented progressive ideals has become known for strife and crisis that has impeded on members.

Citing examples, Gabriel said the crisis at the national level between Julius Abure and Nenadi Usman and the one at the state level between Kingsley Ugwu and Casmir Agbo are key to the disunity among members.

He further said that he was rest assured that the PDP would offer the support he desires to champion his political career.
