NSIB indicts Air Peace pilot and co-pilot over hard drug and alcohol use, sparking major aviation safety concerns in Nigeria.

In a shocking development, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has indicted an Air Peace pilot and co-pilot after investigations revealed that both had reportedly consumed hard drugs and alcohol before a scheduled flight.

According to preliminary findings released by the NSIB, the pilots’ actions violated multiple aviation safety regulations, raising serious concerns about passenger safety and the airline’s internal monitoring systems. The bureau emphasized that its investigation aimed to ensure strict adherence to aviation safety standards and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The NSIB stated that it has already submitted its findings to the relevant aviation authorities for further disciplinary action. Industry observers have called for stronger drug and alcohol testing policies across all Nigerian airlines to safeguard passengers and maintain public confidence in air travel.

Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s leading carriers, has yet to issue an official response to the NSIB’s report. Aviation experts, however, have stressed the importance of transparency and prompt corrective measures to restore trust.
