Willie Obiano debunks false death rumours, confirms from Houston that he is alive and healthy as aides condemn viral misinformation on social media.
Former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, C-Don Adinuba, has firmly dismissed widespread rumours alleging that ex-Governor Willie Obiano had passed away. Adinuba confirmed that the former governor is alive, healthy, and currently residing in Houston, Texas, United States.
The false report which claimed Obiano died in a London hospital due to heart failure and complications linked to urinary cancer circulated rapidly across social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), after being published by Sahara Reporters and promoted by accounts such as Instablog9ja.
However, in a swift and direct response, Obiano took to Facebook to personally debunk the claims, assuring supporters that he is “alive and in excellent condition.” His public statement was immediately reinforced by close associates, including former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and ex-commissioner C-Don Adinuba, who described the report as irresponsible and entirely fabricated.

The incident has reignited discussions about the dangers of misinformation in Nigeria’s digital space, especially the speed at which unverified claims spread on social platforms.
As Obiano continues his private life in the United States, his team urges the public to rely on credible sources and avoid sharing unverified information capable of causing public panic.
