CAC Marks 35th Anniversary with 3,500 Free Business Name Registrations, Launches AI-Powered Website.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has unveiled a newly redesigned website featuring an AI Lawyer Assistant as part of activities marking its 35th anniversary celebration in Abuja. The development underscores the Commission’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s ease of doing business through technology-driven solutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of CAC@35, the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, described the relaunch as a major milestone in the Commission’s digital transformation journey. According to him, the upgraded portal introduces two innovative features aimed at simplifying business registration processes for entrepreneurs across the country.

The first feature is an AI-powered Lawyer Assistant designed to provide instant and accurate responses to users’ questions relating to CAC laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures, and operational matters. The intelligent system is expected to reduce delays and enhance access to regulatory information for business owners and professionals.

The second innovation is an AI Name Generator, which allows users to seamlessly generate, check availability, and reserve scalable business names directly on the platform. The feature is intended to improve efficiency and eliminate common bottlenecks associated with name reservation and registration.

As part of the anniversary celebration, the CAC announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses. The initiative will benefit entrepreneurs across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, providing support for startups and promoting economic inclusion nationwide.

In addition to supporting small businesses, the Commission also introduced academic incentives. Six outstanding corporate law students from each of the six campuses of the Nigerian Law School will receive scholarships in 2026, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to legal education and professional excellence.

Demonstrating its corporate social responsibility, the CAC donated 120 mattresses to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. The Registrar-General also announced a 25 percent commemorative staff bonus based on one month’s gross salary, alongside special car and housing loan packages for staff members.

The event attracted high-profile attendees, including senior government officials, industry leaders, and former Bauchi State Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda.
