The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has published the official overview of its 2025 recruitment exercise, revealing an overwhelming nationwide response across its agencies.

According to the summary released, the Stage 1 Application Phase which ran from 14th July to 11th August 2025 recorded over 1.8 million applicants competing for slots in the four major services: Immigration, Correctional, Civil Defence, and Fire.

Breakdown of Applications by Service

The CDCFIB detailed the total number of applications received under each security and emergency service:

Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS): 165,212 applications

Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): 703,499 applications

Federal Fire Service (FFS): 406,491 applications

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): 482,198 applications

Board Headquarters/Other Categories: 116,122 applications

The Nigeria Immigration Service leads with the highest number of applicants, reflecting the strong national interest in border security and administrative roles.

State-by-State Application Distribution

The board also released a graphical breakdown of applications across all 36 states and the FCT. States such as Kano, Kaduna, Lagos, and Rivers recorded some of the largest applicant numbers, while states with smaller populations registered comparatively lower entries.

This breakdown highlights not only widespread national engagement but also reflects regional population density and interest in federal service careers.

Next Steps in the Recruitment Process

With the first phase now complete, the CDCFIB is expected to move into the next stage of the recruitment cycle, which typically includes assessment screenings, documentation, and physical verification across designated centres.

Applicants are advised to monitor official CDCFIB communication channels including the website and social media handles for updates on shortlisting, screening schedules, and further recruitment instructions.
